Woke up late, went up for breakfast only to find they stopped serving, well it was 10:30.
Went down to the cafe and had a coffee and some danishes to keep us going until lunchtime.
Sat there and watched some TV, then before we knew it, it was lunchtime. Yay.
Had lunch then went to the private lounge and read for a while, then decided to head off the boat as it was cooling down.
As we were leaving there were loads of people coming back from excursions looking hot and worn out.
We hopped on the free bus, went around a bit then realized it was heading back so we got off at a shopping mall to cool down and walked around, there wasn’t much there, mainly phone and clothes shops, so we went out and aimed for a food market we’d seen yesterday and decided to risk eating there.
We walked down some side streets, the place isn’t very big and I had Google Maps so wasn’t worried about getting lost, and was pretty sure it was safe. The pavement was in a poor state of repair everywhere, and every so often we’d get a whiff of the sewers. A lot of the buildings were covered in black mould from the humidity. Most were small shops – clothes shops, convenience stores, hardware stores, restaurants and cafes etc with what was probably the living area above.
We found the food court where there were several other Western people eating so hopefully it was well-known and we won’t be spending the next few days on the toilet.
I had prawn hokkein noodles and Song ordered pork trotter (yum).
Went back to the boat and straight to the restaurant to get some fruit and drinks, happy to be back in the cool and comfortable surroundings.
