Woke up to another beautiful day, we’ve been really lucky with the weather lately. Packed up, left the bags at the hotel and walked to the station via Starbucks. The train journey to Vitre was only 20 minutes.
The train was about 30 minutes late, luckily we didn’t have to change anywhere.
Got off, immediately saw the castle, but decided to walk down to a viaduct to take pictures.

Walked back and then spent the next hour or so wandering around the small town. The buildings were similar to those in Rennes, exposed wood and leaning in places, but the town was more authentic. We didn’t have time to go into the castle, but after the abbey at Mont Saint Michel yesterday didn’t need to see any more stone rooms.

Didn’t have time for a sit down meal, this was a brief visit, so just grabbed a couple of rolls from a boulangerie, then onto the train back to Rennes to pick up the bags. Song stayed at the station while I hopped on the metro back to the hotel to get them.
Train was on time (yay), but earlier I got an email from French trains saying there had been an equipment fire outside Tours and our train to Orleans in 2 days was disrupted. I booked our next train on a different site and there was no notification from them, and we were going to Tours now. I translated (Google) a web page that said trains were terminating at an earlier stop with shuttles to the main station. We’d need to check tomorrow to see how we get to Orleans.
We did stop at a different station, so got the shuttle to the main station, then a packed tram to near the hotel and walked 5 minutes. The hotel was on a street lined with restaurants, did a quick Google and found one that was open that had good reviews so walked about 2 minutes – closed. Bloody Google, that’s a few times it’s said something is open but when we get there it’s closed. Fortunately there were many others to choose from so we found a popular bistro.
I had rabbit terrine to start, Song had black pudding, and we both had cod on black rice for main. I also had 2 glasses of white wine. Cost 69.80 Euro ($124, thanks Trump). A bit steep, and we shouldn’t convert to AUD because the dollar has tanked and we’ll only get depressed.

Went back to the hotel, weather tomorrow looks good again so we’ll explore Tours.
